Schedule~D Day…*Lesson 3 Periods 5 & 6

1.  Today, students finished watching the movie, Lorenzo’s Oil.”

2. We reviewed important genetics vocabulary and then students worked on a Punnett square practice problem handout to help prepare them for their final test tomorrow, Friday, June 16.

*Homework: Study for your Punnet Square final genetics test tomorrow, Friday, June 16th.

Schedule~E Day…*Periods 5 & 6 Lesson 4

1.  Today, we finished taking notes and discussing the PPT on Punnett squares.

2. Students worked on the Punnett practice problems on their PPT packets. This work is due Wednesday, June 14, for period 5 and Thursday, June 15 for period 6.

*NO homework IF you completed your PPT practice problems. Final genetics test next Friday, June 16th.

Schedule~D Day…*Period 6 Lesson 3

1.  Today, students read a handout on Heredity and highlighted it using the key green~I know; yellow~I need a bit of a review; red~new information I don’t know.

2. We began looking at a PPT on Punnett squares. We had a great discussion about the passing of genetic traits. We will continue to work on the PPT tomorrow during our next class period.

*NO homework IF you have turned in all past work. HOWEVER…if you have any late or missing work it must be turned in by THIS Friday, June 9 to receive credit!

Schedule~C Day…*Period 5 Lesson 3

1.  Today, students read a handout on Heredity and highlighted it using the key green~I know; yellow~I need a bit of a review; red~new information I don’t know.

2. We began looking at a PPT on Punnett squares. We had a great discussion about the passing of genetic traits. We will continue to work on the PPT our next class period.

3. We spent the last 10 minutes of class introducing the dogs we created in our “A Recipe for Traits.” It was fun learning about student’s dogs.

Schedule~B Day…*Period 5 Lesson 2

1.  Today, we finished the last slide of the PPT presentation outling the “rules” of genetics.

2. We did a fun activity called “A Recipe for Traits.” Students randomly selected traits of “DNA” for their dog. They then drew their dog, gave their dog a name, and then wrote a description of their dog including its traits and characteristics. This activity represents how a living organism’s traits are a result of its DNA sequences.

*NO homework IF you have turned in all past work. HOWEVER…if you have any late or missing work it must be turned in by THIS Friday, June 9 to receive credit!

Schedule~A Day…*Period 5 Lesson 1

1.  Today, I returned student’s science journal assignments~all completed work has been graded and grades have been input into the grading program. *I handed out grade printouts. If students have late or missing work, it must be turned in by THIS Friday, June 9th to receive credit.

2. Today, we looked at a PPT presentation regarding genetics vocabulary. We took notes and had a class discussion regarding genetic traits.

1.  Today, I returned this week’s geology test along with all other past graded work. *I handed out grade printouts as all work for period 6 has been graded. If you have late or missing work it must be turned in by NEXT Friday, June 9th to receive credit.

2. Today, we watched the Bill Nye “Genes” video and took notes and discussed the note sheet.

1.  Today, we watched the rest of the video “Dogs and More Dogs.” as we continue to look at genetics and how traits are passed down. We also had a really fun discussion as many of the students shared what kind of dog they have, why they got the dog they have and their dog breed’s characteristics.
