We reviewed unit 2.3 and looked back in our notebooks (on 9/16) regarding unit rate and added an example. Students continued practice of rates and rate tables by working on ACE Chapter 2: problems 5, 6, 7, 9 on pages 52 and 53. If a student would like more practice for the quiz or more challenge, I recommend numbers 8 and 10 also.

Students worked together to derive the distance formula from the Pythagorean Theorem. We put notes in our notebooks about solving for missing sides of right triangles using the PT and about the distance formula.

Unit 2.2 was finished in class today and 2.3 was started. I gave notes and clarified many parts of unit 2.3. Unit 2.3 A and B (pages 48, 49) only.

Students took notes on the triangle rule and divisibility rules. They explored a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem in unit 3.2. Students explained the proof with drawings, words and equations. We completed A, B, D in class. We then talked about unit 3.4 and students started work to complete the table on page 47. Due Friday: mathxl units 1 and 2; 3.2 (work done in class) and 3.4 A and B only.
