Tuesday (11/29)

  1.  Today classes 6,4,5 met.
  2. Period 6, please see Monday’s post.
  3. Today we read passage from Alligator Bayou that was rewritten in verse.  We called this poem “I Miss . . . “, and each student began planning an original “I Miss . . . ” poem.  Several examples written by past 8th graders were shared.  Click here to view the planning sheet: i-miss-poem-planning-sheet

Monday (11/28)

  1.  Classes 3,4,5 met today.
  2. Following a journal write, the new vocabulary words were introduced.
  3. As a pre-reading activity, students recorded information provided on a slide show about Cefalu and Tallulah.  On a T-Chart students jotted down information and observations.  To view the slides, go to your Language Arts Google Classroom.
  4. Finally, we read Alligator Bayou chapter 1
  5. No homework assigned.

Tuesday (11/15)

  1.  Periods 6, 4, 5 met today.
  2. Class opened with a close reading of an article “Reading Shakespeare has dramatic effect on human brain.”
  3. The rest of the class time students composed their MSND Character Soliloquys.

Due:  Character Soliloquy Final   Periods 3+4= Wednesday (11/16)     and Periods 3+6= Thursday (11/17)

Monday (11/14)

  1.  Periods 3,4,5 met today.
  2. Class began with a look at oxymorons because Shakespeare used them in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as a character development tool and a comedic device.
  3. We finished the play today.
  4. Thirty + minutes were allotted to drafting the Character Identity Soliloquys.

Tuesday (11/8)

  1.  Today, periods 4,5,6 met.
  2. Period 6 students, please see Monday’s post.
  3. Class began with an easy translation of MSND 5.1; we reviewed yesterday’s cut-n-paste work; read part of the Mechanicals Play (MSND 5.1.112-367); and watched that scene of the Hollywood MSND version.

Monday (11/7)

  1.  Today periods 3,4,5 met.
  2. Every student engaged in two pre-reading activities to create access points into a complex part of MSND.
  3. In groups of 4 students, passages from MSND Act 4, Scenes 1 and 2 were found and arrange in sequential order.  If this assignment was not completed in class, it must be finished as homework.
