Historical Fiction Book + Paper + Speech

1.  By this date (January 15) you should have completely read the historical fiction book you selected and written notes on the sheets provided.

2.  A significant amount of time was allotted  in class to composing a body paragraph using the notes. Click here for the graphic organizer to record the details for the paragraph, and an example paragraph.

3.  Once the paragraph is written, each required element is to be highlighted in the following colors:

blue  = historical detail

orange = excerpts

pink = research info

green =  author’s purpose

purple = your reaction to reading the this episode

yellow = enhancement (how reading historical facts is more meaningful when incorporated into a story)4>

4.  Now prepare a speech cue card by writing the key words from your paragraph onto a  4″ x  6″ notecard.  You are  limited to 5 bullet points with 5 words on both sides of the card.  That’s a total of 50 words.  No complete sentences my be written on the card.
