7th Grade

Second period met today.  We took a practice vocab. quiz, wrote/shared some startling good (others quite entertaining) journal writes, and continued ATTWN.  Here’s what’s due on Friday, December 2: vocab mnemonic devices, vocab quiz, and mug shots for ATTWN characters (except Mr. and Mrs. Rogers).

8th Grade

We continued are study of challenged/banned books.  I’d like all students to have a book by this Friday.  Vocab. exercises and the quiz is Friday, December 2.

I know you’re not thrilled (you should be, though!) about reading Truman Capote’s “A Thanksgiving Visitor” during your break; however, it truly is a great story and your exposure to literature of this quality makes you a more culturally literate person, which is so impressive.  Don’t laugh, but I see this assignment  as a gift from me to you.

As you read, jot down literary elements and devices in the examples column on the poster you made.  It’s super important that you include the page number in parentheses, just the digits, no word page or an abbreviation for page.

If you can’t fill all the cells on the poster, no biggie.  Fill at least 20.

This is due Monday, November 28.
