Today we read “Names/Nombres” by Julia Alvarez and noted her savvy writing strategies. Then it was time for peer feedback on our Name papers.  Because we didn’t finish, we will complete that activity tomorrow, moving the Name Paper due date to Monday, Oct. 4.

8th Grade

On Thursday we read “The Open Window” by Saki, a classic short story that exemplifies the power of a story well told.  I love this story, and I appreciate those of you who did too; it wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea!

Your two vocabulary exercises are due tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 1.

Ms. Egan might be a “guest” visitor to our  class tomorrow because we’ll be reading an excerpt from Frank McCourt’s Teacher Man that uses New York/New Jersey dialect – – you’ve heard it when Ms. Egan-speaks!
