1.  Continue creating your 20.  Here are the requirements: original design, 10 to 20 things you want to do in the next 20 years. accurate spelling, attractive presentation.

2. Vocabulary list 1 and Synonym Couplets.

Write a synonym couplet for words 1 through 10; plus, 11 through 15 for extra credit.

Synonym Couplets are made up of two lines.  The first line contains 3 or 4 synonyms  and the  vocab word. The second line tells more about the vocab word. The two lines have end rhyme.

Examples:

Eerie, mysterious, scary

Ghost and goblins can marry.

7th Grade

1. Vocabulary quiz on Friday.  The words are pantheon, ambrosia, mercurial, hubris, immortal.

2. Bring in a clean, lidless tin can and any Greek mythology books you have.

8th Grade

Today we read an eccentricity story by David Sedaris, “I’ll Eat What He’s Wearing.”  Quickly, examples of writing strategies applied were identified (dialogue, figurative language, ancedote, active verbs, sensory details, and allusion.

Now you are to compose an narrative featuring an eccentric family member or friend.  Try to use the writing strategies mentioned above.  This piece should be at least 300 words long, typed in size 12 font, and 1.5 line spaced.  It is due tomorrow.

7th Grade

Bring in those clean, lidless cans! This week the Greek Mythology unit of study begins in earnest.  If you have books at home about Greek mythology, bring them to class.

8th Grade

If you did not submit “The Things They Carried” write, see February 2nd.
