Homework for Week 4/17 – 4/21

  • 3rd Quarter Home Reading Log (HRL): No more HRL for 3rd Quarter

  • Weekly Planner Sheet This is a document for students who have lost their planner.  It’s a sheet they can print out weekly and use to record their homework.  The template mimics our planners.  Since students are required to use a planner – this template is offered as a replacement for those who may need it.

MONDAY 4/17 – “A” Day

PERIODS 1 , 2, & 5  :

  •  Students presented their posters today that were made last Friday.
  • Then, we checked out our next book:  All the Broken Pieces.
  • Students were given the rest of class to begin reading the book.

HOMEWORK:

  1. Read in novel for at least 20 minutes at home.

TUESDAY 4/18  – “B” Day

 PERIOD 6 

  • See homework listed for Periods 1,2, & 5 above for Monday.

HOMEWORK:

  1. Read in novel for at least 20 minutes at home.

PERIODS 2 & 5  :

  • Students continued to read in our new novel, All the Broken Pieces. We are doing a straight read this time and then will spend time discussing and exploring the novel.
  • Students made a list of memories/events in their lives that stand out as memorable and/or that have had an impact on them.

HOMEWORK:

  1. Read in novel for at least 20 minutes at home.

WEDNESDAY  4/19  – “C” Day

 PERIODS 1  & 6 :

  • See homework listed for Periods 2 & 5 above for Tuesday.

PERIOD 5  

  • Today we began class by watching a poetry slam and discussing what it shared.  We related it to the novel and “Trauma”.
  • Then, we continued to discuss the novel by taking a closer look at the beginning and what it revealed about the character.
  • Finally, student began making a timeline for their lives by filling in 10 events from their list from the previous day.  They were to select the best 10 that they felt they could easily write about.

HOMEWORK:

  1. Finish Memory Timeline
  2. Read at least 20 minutes in novel

THURSDAY  4/20 – “D” Day 

PERIODS 1 , 2 & 6 

  • See homework listed for Period 5 above for Wednesday.

FRIDAY 4/21 – “E” Day  

PERIODS 1 , 2, 5, & 6 

  • HAIKU Poetry about Nature:  We walked around the school observing nature and then writing Haiku poems based on what stood out to them.

  1. Finish the novel All the Broken Pieces & QUIZ
    Periods 1, 2, & 5
    DUE 4/24
    Period 6 – DUE 4/25
