  • 3rd Quarter Home Reading Log (HRL): No more HRL for 3rd Quarter

  • Weekly Planner Sheet This is a document for students who have lost their planner.  It’s a sheet they can print out weekly and use to record their homework.  The template mimics our planners.  Since students are required to use a planner – this template is offered as a replacement for those who may need it.

MONDAY 4/10 – “A” Day

PERIODS 1 , 2, & 5  

  • Today we looked at a sample conclusion for our Literary Theme Essay test.  We discussed what was required.
  • Students were given the score sheet/rubric for the Essay and an outline to fill out.  Both can and should be used on the Essay test tomorrow in class.
  • The Essay Test is open book and open notes – so students may use the novel and any resource handouts I have given them this year.

PERIODS 2 & 5  :

  • Students finished their Breaking Through Essay.  Students who finished early got some silent reading time.
  • An article giving a brief overview of the Vietnam War was handed out.  It is building their background knowledge for the next novel we will be starting.
  • Students were to read the article and record their thinking/questions as they read.  Then they got into groups and discussed their thinking/questions about the article.
  • Students who needed most of the provided class time to finish their Essay will need to read the article as homework.

  • Students finished their Breaking Through Essay.  Students who finished early got some silent reading time.
